Liza Jane is an expressive young singer-songwriter from Key West, Florida, whose work is both sensitive and powerful thanks to her booming, seductive, soulful voice. Liza Jane informed her parents, “I came here to sing,” when she was just 2 years old.
Since she started competing and practicing, she has been singing frequently. Liza Jane is a celebrated soprano singer-songwriter who has dazzled audiences in both North America and Europe with her incredible vocal prowess and rock-opera aesthetic.
At the same time, as she was enrolling in Belmont University’s classical voice department in Nashville, Liza Jane started writing more emotional, introspective alt-pop songs.
The press and well-known curators alike took notice of her debut song, “People These Days,” which was included on the Spotify editorial playlist “New Music Nashville.”
Liza Jane has been putting out work that is more in line with who she is and what she wants to say as an artist since relocating to Los Angeles.

1- Where did you come from, where are you based now, and why?
I was born and raised in Key West, Florida, moved to Nashville to join their classical voice program, and recently moved to Los Angeles, where I am based now. I fell in love with LA the 1st time I came here. The move inspired many of the songs on my debut “Unbreakable” EP.
2- Why Los Angeles?
I really fell in love with the energy of this city. The art, the events, the food, the weather, the experiences. I love that I can go to the beach the same day I can go hiking and still hit up an exclusive party, club or concert at night.
3- Who inspired you to pursue your music career?
I told my parents at 2 years old that I came here to sing and they have supported this dream ever since. I cannot thank them enough for the support over the years and encouraging me to stick with it, no matter the challenges along the way.
4- What is the message behind Don’t Bring Me Down?
Don’t Bring Me Down is all about letting go of the toxic people in our lives. Whether friends, family, co-workers… don’t let them bring your energy down. As the lyrics say, “let me be free”.
5- How do you describe your music style?
I would say my musical style is dark pop or pop alternative, also pop dance. I like to combine classical and sultry elements together.
6- What do you think about the music scene that you are in right now?
There are a lot of incredible artists out there putting out uplifting songs, lyrics, and beats to move us both physically and mentally; not to mention the art of music and lyric videos that often take the scene to another level.
7- How do you see the difference between Unbreakable and your new record?
Unbreakable was the very 1st single off this new EP of the same name that I released in 2021. I would say the entire EP tells a story of falling into darker places, persevering, and finding the strength to keep going. Musically, there is a little something for everyone on this EP: from electropop to synth to pop/dance and even a featured rapper, Young Miller Tha Don on the song “Carry On”.
8- Please describe the creative process of your songs.
Often times, it starts with a melody or lyrics and goes from there. When the inspiration hits, it can take over. Sometimes it starts with the melody and I find the words, but other times it’s the lyrics and I have to sit at the piano to find the melody. Then, it’s about getting into the studio – in this case, with producer Gemini Muziq, and bringing them to life.
9- What is the best thing about L.A. in your opinion?
The weather. When you’ve grown up in humidity and extreme heat year-round, you realize there is no better place to be than California.
10- What is the most important change that should be made to your country’s education system?
I am big on the importance of mental health. We should do more to talk about it openly in schools, on social media, and at home.
11- When does time pass fastest for you, and when does it pass the slowest?
Time passes fastest for me when I’m on stage performing. The adrenaline gets pumping and it’s always over before you know it. The slowest would have to be waiting for the next show or next song to be released. I am always so excited to perform or release new music that the time it takes between shows or songs feels the slowest!
12- What is next for Liza Jane?
I hope to play more shows in more cities around the world. I would love nothing more than to join festival lineups, introduce the masses to my music, and start working on releasing the newest songs I have written these past few months. In the meantime, I hope you all get a chance to stream, download, and share my new EP, “Unbreakable”!
