Convo With Ronna Riva

The city of Constanta, which is carried by the Black Sea waves, has a rich past.

It is also well renowned for the unique energy that all artists who are born here have. Ronna is definitely on that list.

Since she was a little child, she has enjoyed performing. She began traveling with the Viva band across Romania at the age of just 13. But she didn’t fully commit to her one true love—music—until she had completed her schooling.

Ronna admits that once you get enamored with music, there is no turning back since it has already ingrained itself in your spirit. Through her songs, she hopes to reach everyone. Her great musical range has been demonstrated by a few collaborations with foreign musicians, such as Grammy-nominated Will Jordan and the incredibly brilliant Turkish rapper Pooyan Mokhtari.

You may read more about her below. We are happy to have her in this interview.

1- Where did you come from, where are you based now, and why?

I was born in Constanta, the city on the Black Sea. After graduating from college, I moved to Bucharest and started the “Ronna Riva” project. Now I live in Bucharest but I travel a lot.

2- What do you like the most about Romania?

I like Romania very much, I have family and friends here. It’s a beautiful country that everyone should visit. I like social life the most in Romania. People are very warm and kind.

3- When did you start your music career?

I started my music career at the age of 12 when I started playing in a music band called “Viva” and we were 5 talented children. The band Viva was very successful in Romania, we had many concerts and many tours. I was active in this band until I was 17 years old.

4- What made you decide to pursue a career in entertainment?

I discovered this talent since I was very young, from the age of 5 when my parents took me to the first music contest where I won the first prize. After the first contest, I participated in others and that’s how the music virus got into me, and it never came out. I’ve always known that’s what I want to do.

5- What is the message behind True Love?

The song “True Love” is about the feelings we have when we fall in love and we hope that this time it will be that real love.

6- Tell us about your experience working with the Grammy-nominated producer Will Jordan.

Will Jordan composed the song “Fly” by Nicky Minaj and Rihanna. He was Grammy nominated for this song. My managers asked him if he wants to collaborate with me, and he gladly accepted, so we released two songs together: Soul Stealer & Free Soldier. Will is an exceptional and very talented artist and producer. I’m glad I had the opportunity to work with him!

7- What skills have you learned that help you in your singing career?

I have learned a lot in all these years from my own experience and working with talented people. So I became an independent artist because I know how this industry works. There are many things to say, but the most important thing, besides talent, is that you have to be persevering and consistent.

8- What is your primary goal in your music career?

I want to grow a lot as an artist and I want my music to be heard and enjoyed by everyone in this entire world.

9- What separates you from other artists?

As I said above, besides talent, an artist must have an efficient team to work with, be consistent and persevering, and very hardworking. I consider that I have these qualities, but I also have a lot of patience and that makes me very strong. Many artists lose patience if they do not succeed immediately.

10- What is one message you would give to your fans?

I want to thank my fans for their constant support and I would like to let them know that there are many musical surprises to come, new collaborations, and a lot of new music.

11- What is next for Ronna Riva?

I will soon release the official remix for the song True Love and in March I will release the new single “Au revoir”! You will love it!. It will be a year full of good music so stay tuned😍
