Since 2016, Viennese producer, musician, and singer PAENDA has been constantly working on her sound, which in recent years has moved more and more from underground indie to mainstream electronic pop.
While the first singles were taken out of PAENDA’s debut album EVOLUTION I, “Waves” and “Good Girl”, merge gentle avant-garde echoes with light-footed pop, tracks like “Like a Domino”, “So loud” and “Filler” on her follow-up EVOLUTION II already head straight towards demanding, broad-based pop music with strong hook lines and grand melodies.

She debuted in late 2017 and piqued the interest of music fans with her first track “Waves.” After that, things started to pick up: in 2018, the Austrian musician opened for pop-icon Jessie J and played at several music festivals, including the Donauinselfestival.
PAENDA reappeared in 2020 with a fresh sound and an abundance of new songs, beginning with the collaboration hit “Best of it” ft. G x G, the summer single “Desire me not to want you,” and three new pop songs from PAENDA’s new EP “My Heart.”
She has released multiple collaborative tracks with other performers since 2011, and she just released a fresh new single called Second Summer, as well as a music video for the track. To learn more about the song and her music career, you can read the complete text of our interview with her below.
1- Where did you come from, where are you based now, and why?
I was born in Styria but have been living in Vienna now for almost 14 years. Simply because I love Vienna and it offers much more opportunities for creatives.
2- When did you begin your musical career?
I was 6 when I started singing in a choir and never stopped since.
3- Who are your biggest influences?
I wouldn’t say I have something like „biggest influences“, but I do like Tove Lo and Dua Lipa at the moment. I like, that both of them go their way and address topics that really are of interest to them.
4- What is the message behind Second Summer?
I’m really bad at taking a break and this is my „do it now you need it“ song. Also, it’s kind of a hint, that I might take some turns in my creative way in the near future. 🙂
5- If you could change anything about the industry, what would it be?
Really, I don’t know where to start. Let’s start with sexism, equality, and power abuse and end with the fact, that the actual creatives, the ones who create the product and/or WHO ARE the product, often are the last ones who earn money.

6- What type of musician would you prefer to collaborate with?
Every type that is easy to work with and does it on eye level.
7- If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Dua Lipa or Tove Lo 🙂
8- What is the best gig you’ve ever played?
I supported Jessie J. In 2018, that was in many ways extremely special to me.
9- What do you want to accomplish in the music industry?
Me as a female producer wants to show young girls, that everything is possible and no vagina keeps you from understanding technical stuff. Also I want to be an artist that stands for the fact, that DIY doesn’t automatically mean that the quality isn’t good.
10- What is next for PAENDA?
I’m currently working on my next big project. I don’t want to kiss and tell yet, but if you follow me on my socials, you’ll see. 🙂
