Convo With KINGS

Hailing from North Carolina, KINGS is an upcoming talent, now based in Nashville, releasing her sophomore single called Time Heals, partnering up with Grammy-nominated producer/composer supporting the singer’s music career, channeling and bring her vision into life.

Heavily influenced by her dad, that used to play ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ from a very early, KINGS describes music not just as her love, but also as her first language, the skill that communicates, when only words are not enough.

Performing from the young age of three years old, KINGS started to develop her creativity by facing the life challenges getting inspired to write her songs,  leaving her hometown, North Carolina, to pursue a music career in Nashville, creating a social media presence, where she already achieved more than 3.7 millions of followers on TikTok.

Her debut single called ‘call me when you grow up…‘ was released just a few months ago, following up on the success of this amazing artist; I had the opportunity to have an interview talking about KINGS‘s prominent music career that you can check it out below.

Here we go!

How is it to live in Nashville?
What’s not to love about Nashville? The best of the best musicians live here, and I love meeting and learning from them.

When did you realize you became a TikTok sensation?
Am I? Haha. I’m not sure anyone feels like they are a “sensation” and they’ve “made it”, and because I’m so busy working on my music, voice, collaborating on projects, and always creating and making content, there isn’t much time left. That being said, I am incredibly thankful for my followers, and don’t take it for granted!

How reaching a big audience online changed your perspective on social media?
Well, it can be a love-hate relationship at times. I feel like my followers have become my friends, and I love connecting with them through my art. It can be consuming though, because of the amount of time it takes to produce good content. I want to give everything to my music so I try and carve out that time everyday. That takes strategic planning and time management. But, overall, I am so thankful for the platform I’ve been given.

Who inspired you to pursue your music career?
My dad for sure who is an incredibly gifted musician. He introduced me to the greatest musicians and bands of all time when I was young. I’ve learned to appreciate and respect different genres and styles of music, and learn and pull inspiration from them for my own music.

How do you see the importance of Nashville in the music scene?
Nashville is the “Mother Ship” so to speak, in terms of importance to music in general. Musicians within every genre are welcome and given respect here in Nashville, and the gift of this city’s music scene to up-and-coming musicians is second to none. The community is so supportive, and I am so blessed to live here.

What is the message behind your new song, Time Heals? Please, tell us about the songwriting process of such a hit.
Someone gave me a piece of priceless wisdom when I first started coming to Nashville, “Write your stories”. Everything else won’t ring true. And that’s what I’ve set out to do. “Time Heals” is the therapy I needed to get over a heartbreak that felt so heavy. And heartbreak is a universal feeling and no one is immune. This song got me through years of pain over this one situation and I knew others would connect to it as well.

What challenges did you face as a youth in pursuit of your music career?
I love my home town and North Carolina where I fit in, but I didn’t belong. Fitting in means you sort of have to change something about yourself. Belonging means you are accepted exactly how you are. Many people didn’t understood me and my desire to express myself through art. There were some painful situations involving friends and some bullying too. My advice is find where you belong and settle there. I belong in Nashville, and, for that, I’m thankful.

Which message do you have for those following up on your work now?
I am so happy to finally have music out, but this is definitely just the beginning. I will continue to write and release music for anyone and everyone who wants to hear my stories.

What is next to KINGS?
Hang on tight everyone, because I’m just getting started. I have so many songs ready to release and more in the process. They are songs people can relate to, and I look forward to getting them out. Also, I am working on some amazing and creative content so stay tuned.
